Online seminar: Collective Punishment, Genocide and the Struggle for Justice in Palestine

The Maynooth University Research Centre in International Justice and the Maynooth University Social Sciences Institute are organising an online expert panel entitled Collective Punishment, Genocide and the Struggle for Justice in Palestine. This event will take place 5-7pm GMT on Wednesday 22^nd November 2023.

Speaker biographies:
Professor Shane Darcy
 Professor Shane Darcy is the Deputy Director of the Irish Centre for Human Rights in the School of Law at the National University of Ireland Galway, where he teaches business and human rights, international humanitarian law and international criminal law. He is the author of Judges, Law and War; The Judicial Development of International Humanitarian Law (Cambridge University Press, 2014) and To Serve the Enemy: Informers, Collaborators and the Laws of Armed Conflict (Oxford University Press, 2019). He is a member of the Editorial Boards of the Business and Human Rights Journal, the Irish Yearbook of International Law and Criminal Law Forum.

Maha Abdallah
Maha Abdallah is a Graduate Teaching Assistant and PhD Researcher in the field of public international law at the Faculty of Law, University of Antwerp. Her research focuses on genocide, Zionism, settler colonialism and the Palestinian people.

Saleh Hijazi
Saleh Hijazi is the Apartheid-Free Policy Coordinator at the Palestinian BDS National Committee, and a Policy Member of Al-Shabaka: The Palestinian Policy Network. As a researcher and human rights activist, Saleh previously worked at Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and Al-Quds University Human Rights Clinic. Saleh holds a master’s degree in human rights from the University of Essex and a bachelor degree in philosophy from Lawrence University.
