Academic Freedom in Context:  Complicity, Legal Accountability and Ethical Responsibility

This webinar discusses the legal and ethical responsibilities of Irish universities to divest from Israeli apartheid and genocide and to end all complicity in Israeli crimes committed against the Palestinian people. The speakers will interrogate academic freedom and provide recommendations for Irish universities to ensure their full compliance with international law and human rights.

Omar Barghouti is the Co-founder of the BDS movement for Palestinian rights and recipient of the 2017 Gandhi Peace Award.

Dr. Rania Muhareb is a policy member of Al-Shabaka – the Palestinian Policy Network, a member of Al-Shabaka’s editorial committee, and has a decade of experience in human rights, legal research, and advocacy in Palestine.
